In 1815 twenty-two year old Samuel Kirk partnered with john smith until 1820, then went on independently to found the oldest surviving silver smithy in America. Kirk introduced an ornate type of repousse decoration becoming known as the Baltimore style, which is often imitated. In 1979 Stieff purchased and absorbed the Kirk firm, and the combined companies retain their names as the Kirk-Stieff Company.

Michael Perchin (1860-1897) Faberge egg with Easter egg finial, diamonds and precious stones placed throughout possibly ruby. Interior of lid covered in velvet with removable vase with flowers and diamonds around the base, interior of lid is marked "M.N", bottom of egg is marked with Faberge marking and "M.N" and one illegible mark believed to be"56sc" measuring 6.5"T. Perchin, Michael (Michael Evlampievitch Perchin) (1860-1903) is the most famous of Faberge's work masters. He was responsible for the crafting of the imperial Easter eggs from 1885 or 1886 until his death in 1903. His hallmark appears on all but the first egg made during those years. Although he was initially trained by rural craftsmen, Perchin's mature work recalls elements of the rococo and Louis XV styles. The metal standard in zolotniks: for gold, 56 or 72 (No Suggestions) (corresponding to about 14 and 18 carats, respectively). No box included.
