George Rodrigue framed and matted numbered print under glass of a blue dog in front of a tree with a yellow star at the top, signed lower left "Rodrigue 65/100", 29.25" x 41.5". Bio from AskArt: George Rodrigue, whose career as an artist started with dark and lush landscapes of his native Louisiana bayou but shifted abruptly, and profitably, when he began a series of portraits of a single subject, a melancholy mutt that came to be known as Blue Dog. George found his model in his studio: a photograph of his dog, Tiffany. She was black and white in reality but became blue in his imagination, with yellow eyes. In a New York Times article in 1998, George said "the yellow eyes are really the soul of the dog, he has this piercing stare. People say the dog keeps talking to them with the eyes, always saying something different. People who have seen a Blue Dog painting always remember it. They are really about life, about mankind searching for answers. The dog never changes position. He just stares at you. And you're looking at him, looking for some answers, 'Why are we here?,' and he's just looking back at you, wondering the same. The dog doesn't know. You can see this longing in his eyes, this longing for love, answers." By the early 1990s, Mr. Rodrigue was painting only Blue Dog.

Colette Pope Heldner framed oil on canvas titled "Swamp Idyl - Louisiana Bayou Country" signed lower left "Colette Pope Heldner" having markings on back, 20.75" x 24.5". Bio from AskArt: Colette Pope Heldner (1902-1990) was known for her impressionist style, painting scenes of the New Orleans' picturesque courtyards and favorite haunts of the local artists and musicians, plus darker atmospheric landscapes of the surrounding countryside, sometimes with figures included but not predominant. A number of her works bore the title "Swamp Idyl - Louisiana Bayou Country" but were varied in content, some with a small dwelling or boat or dock, others composed only of cypress trees in the waters of a bayou. These are not numbered or dated. Besides her full three-name signature, some early works were signed only "by Colette". Colette Pope Heldner has received renewed critical acclaim in recent years, in such retrospective exhibitions as "In a New Light: America's Brush with Impressionism", held March through May 2005 at the Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, Georgia, -- where her work was included with that of about thirty luminaries such as Wm J Glackens, Wm Merritt Chase, and Ernest Lawson. A number of public and private collections own works of hers, including the LSU Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Mr. and Mrs. Amon Carter Evans Collection in Columbia, Tennessee, and others.

Richard Judson Zolan framed and matted oil on cardboard titled "King Lear" signed "Zolan", 18.5" x 20.5". Bio from AskArt: Richard Judson Zolan (1931-2001) has established himself as one of America's most exceptional painters. Zolan graduated from the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago and later studied at the famed Art Students League in New York City. He quickly became the prized pupil of Louis Ritman, an instructor at the academy, was a personal friend and student of Monet for over 20 years, taught Zolan the fundamental techniques and style of Impressionism. The most pervasive quality of his work is the extraordinary synergy he achieves- bringing to his canvas a triumphant marriage of modern art with its Renaissance ancestry. Significant exhibitions include the Metropolitan Galleries in Osaka, Japan, the World Trade Center, Cape Cod Art Association, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
