Sterling silver creamer and sugar, also incl small tray marked on bottom "S.Kirk&Son", total sterling weight 242 grams. In 1815 twenty-two year old Samuel Kirk partnered with john smith until 1820, then went on independently to found the oldest surviving silver smithy in America. Kirk introduced an ornate type of repousse decoration becoming known as the Baltimore style, which is often imitated. In 1979 Stieff purchased and absorbed the Kirk firm, and the combined companies retain their names as the Kirk-Stieff Company.
