Bio from AskArt: John Prentiss Benson (1865-1947) was born in Salem, Massachusetts, the second son in a prominent Salem family. After study in Paris in the early 1880s, he returned to the U.S. to practice his craft, designing homes, hospitals, schools and other public buildings. By the 1920s, his own creative reputation as an architect having been well established, John Benson put aside his drafting tools for good and turned at last to being the artist he had wanted to be since boyhood. He continued painting mostly marinescapes, but also landscapes, portraits, murals, and decorative screens.

Elizabeth O'Neill Verner lithograph of Brooklyn Bridge with Manhattan in the background, signed lower right "Elizabeth O'Neill Verner", 7.5" x 10.25". Bio from AskArt: Elizabeth O'Neill Verner (1883-1979) artistic gifts were encouraged and developed by her maternal grandfather, Henry Franklin Baker, who had been a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and by Alice Ravenel Huger Smith, a Charleston artist. After graduating in 1900 from Ursuline College in Columbia, South Carolina, Elizabeth enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She fell under the influence of Thomas Anschutz, and his encouragement caused her to work hard at her technique. After two years she left, and taught for a year in Aiken, South Carolina, before returning to Charleston, where she lived out her life. In 1923 one of her etchings won third prize at the Charleston County Fair, a humble beginning for one who was to achieve a national reputation. A trip to Europe included studying at the Central School of Fine Arts in London in 1930. A trip to New York City in 1932 resulted in the sale of drawings to Rockefeller Center, and of twelve others for reproduction as postcards.

Norma Bassett Hall signed color wood block matted of landscape scene titled "Haystack Rock" signed lower right "Norma Bassett Hall", 5" x 6". Bio from AskArt: Norma Bassett Hall (1889-1957) was most remembered as a woodblock printmaker and one of the founding members of the Prairie Printmakers, Norma Bassett Hall was the only woman member of that group and the only one to establish a reputation exclusively with color prints. Her interest in woodblock printmaking dated from 1922 when she was on a Cannon Beach, Oregon honeymoon trip. The couple decided to make a pictorial visit of their trip by copying block prints from a book, and she saw what she described as the "real possibilities" of block printmaking. She used the Oriental method, which is the mixing of dry color with water and rice-flour paste. She learned the Japanese woodcut print method on rice paper involving transparent watercolors, which for Hall was a redirection from opaque oil base colors. Adopting this approach exclusively for many years, Hall printed with as many as six or seven colors, each requiring a separate hand cut woodblock. Hall's prints are signed in the bottom right-hand corner, with the edition number printed beneath the lower left side of the image.

Andrew Kay Womrath artwork incl landscape scenes, city scapes, still life of floral decorations, water scape scenes, etc., styles incl sketching, oil on canvas, water color, oil on board, etc., sizes range from 8.5" x 6.5" to 29.5" x 25.5". Bio from Wikipedia: Andrew Kay Womrath (1869–1939) was an American artist who became well known in France, although he was not widely recognized in the United States. He moved to London to study, and then went to Paris, working in both cities for several years. He studied under Urushibara Mokuchu, who bought many of his works. He often worked in advertising. Womrath's work includes drawings, woodblocks and watercolors. His only known poster is an advertisement for a January 1897 exhibition of the Salon des Cent in Paris. It depicts a woman (Gertrude A. Kay ?) leafing through prints beside a somewhat Bohemian-looking man who is admiring a vase. In April 1896 a number of his drawings and book plates were exhibited in the Champs de Mars Salon. A reviewer in 1902 placed Andrew Kay Womrath in what he called the "Pictorial" group. Some of his colored woodcuts are now held in the British Museum
